| Made with the finest harness and skirting leather and using vat dying techniques, these Hope saddles are a variation of the early Texas-style Hope introduced by Adolphus Hope in the late 1830's. His style Hope was the most copied by saddle makers and had the typical Mexican oversized short horn. The Hope saddle generally had double rigged girthing but many, especially during the era that included the Civil War, were single-rigged (center-fire rigging). Our saddles are single rigged with Civil War style quarter strap and girth. Double-rigging is available. The hardware on these saddles and the design used on the skirts, fenders, stirrups and side jockeys can be found on original saddles styled from 1840 - 1880. |
